CINCINNATI — As students start their new school routines, some are trying to keep up and working to balance school and after-school activities. One student is doing it all while writing her second book.
Norah Boehm is 12 years old, but she’s already a published author.
“I spent a lot of days straight where I would write one chapter,” said Norah.
She wrote “There Are No Second Chances” and published it in June.
Now, she’s typing up the beginning of her second book.
“When I’m feeling very emotional, I’ll jot down ideas for my book,” she said.
She’s feeling all of the emotions because of what she’s about to do next.
“I’m excited, I’m nervous, and I’m really worried,” said Norah.
After more than a year of virtual learning, she’s going back to school in person with rigorous seventh grade classes and a schedule full of everything else.
“I feel like I’m not gonna have time for the things I like doing, like reading, writing, pottery and hanging out with my friends,” said Norah.
Her mom, Lauren Boehm, is helping keep track of everything, and keeping Norah encouraged through their busy schedule.
“I’m so proud of her,” said Lauren. “My job is really just to take her where she needs to go, and hers is to her job is to learn how to figure out what she needs to get done.”
And Norah said she has her own plan to get through the school year and get through her second book.
“I just try to tell myself to slow down and things will be easier,” said Norah.
