  • Westlake High School has 27 flags outside their school to honor 27 different service members
  • Donna Davidson has been a part of the display project for four years and hopes the students and other people recognize the importance of this holiday

Donna Davidson has been a part of putting this display together for four years.

“I think that it’s not just a day,” she said.

Davidson hopes the display at the high school reminds students why the nation honors Veterans Day.

“It teaches students, you know, that history is important, and Veterans Day isn’t just another day,” she said.

This project is so important to her because she has ties to the military.

“My family members serve, and it’s important to note the sacrifices that they and also their family members make,” she said.

She said she hopes people realize the true meaning behind Veterans Day so that people like her husband and daughter continue to be celebrated.

“I think it’s important to kind of keep that connection. It’s part of America; it’s what we do,” said Davidson.

The display will be up for a week for those who want to pay tribute.
