AKRON, Ohio — It’s been said people will never forget their wedding day, and the Green family made sure their day would be memorable for all involved.

What You Need To Know

  • A father and son pair married their sweethearts at the same exact time in a double wedding
  • The wedding was hosted by the Akron Municipal Court
  • The court often hosts weddings outside in beautiful places

Gary Green and his son, Jaylen Green, married their sweethearts in a double wedding at the Cascade Plaza in downtown Akron.

The wedding was hosted by the Akron Municipal Court and performed by Judge Annalisa Stubbs Williams.

Gary Green said family means everything to the father-son duo, so sharing the most important day of their lives just made sense.

“We were sitting at the dining room table and were all listening to music and we started talking about it and we said ok ‘let’s do it,’ and we did it,” Gary said.

Stubbs Williams said she has performed a lot of weddings, but even for her, a double wedding was rare.

“That was wonderful. It’s my first double wedding in a very long time, so that was great to have a father and son get married,” Stubbs Williams said. “I think that was very, very special and I was so happy to preform that for them.”

The Akron Municipal Court tries to pick special places, like the Cascade Plaza, to host weddings.

“Oftentimes, there are people who want to get married and they deserve to have beautiful weddings, and sometimes they don’t have it at a church or may not have it at a large facility,” she said.

A beautiful wedding is exactly how the Green’s described their day.

“This has been great, you know,” Gary said. “Even the rain is here, but, you know, I am happy, it’s nice, I feel good.”
