CLEVELAND — Baker Mayfield is the leader of the Browns’ offense, but it was a moment during Sunday’s victory over the Vikings that grabbed attention online.

What You Need To Know

  • Baker Mayfield was seen on the field helping his offensive lineman tie his shoelaces
  • The moment captured by cameras was shared by the NFL on Twitter
  • Although Mayfield struggled, the offensive line was credited for helping the Browns’ rushing attack
  • Despite scoring just one touchdown, Cleveland pulled off a 14-7 win over Minnesota Sunday

Broadcast cameras captured Mayfield leaning down to help offensive lineman Wyatt Teller tie his shoelaces.

The Browns offensive line has largely kept Mayfield healthy in his first four seasons in the NFL. On Sunday, Mayfield appeared in his 50th game.

Teller has played a big role in keeping Mayfield upright. After joining the Browns in 2019, Teller was named second-team All-Pro in 2020.

Mayfield struggled with his accuracy on Sunday despite the 14-7 victory over Minnesota. Mayfield completed 15 of 33 passes for 155 yards. The quarterback failed to connect on a touchdown pass.

While Mayfield and the passing attack was largely neutralized, the Browns managed to run for 184 yards.

Coach Kevin Stefanski gave credit to the offensive line, who did just enough to help the Browns to victory.

“I thought the guys did a really nice job,” Stefanski said. “I think we were able to do multiple in how we ran it with different run types, so the guys expected the play really well.

The Browns scored their lone touchdown Sunday on an 18-play drive. The long drive took 8:39 off the clock as the offensive line opened holes for the running backs.

“We take a lot of pride in it,” running back Nick Chubb said about the line’s ability to lead long drives. “It starts up front with those big guys doing a great job to get some push.”
