Chaminade Julienne students named Week 10 Scholar Athletes for southwest region

DAYTON, Ohio — Two students from Chaminade Julienne High School were recognized as the Week 10 Scholar Athletes for the southwest Ohio region.

Grace Schaefer is a student athlete participating in volleyball, swimming and lacrosse at Chaminade Julienne. When not on the court, pool or field, Schaefer carries a weighted 4.8 grade-point average. She is involved in her school as Student Council President, National Honors Society Vice President, Student Development Chair, Eagle Ambassador, LIFE Leader, FLIGHT Leader, a member of String Ensemble and member of Ski Club. Her plans after high school include pursuing an engineering degree in wither mechanical or aerospace and a business degree.

Samuel Downing is a four-year football player for the Eagles where he also serves as a captain. When not on the field, Downing carries a weighted 4.6 GPA. In school, he also is a member of the National Honor Society and is a recipient of the College Board National African American Scholar Program. His plans after high school are to study mechanical engineering.
