Liberty students recognized as Week 10 Scholar Athletes for central region

POWELL, Ohio — Two students from Olentangy Liberty High School were named the Week 10 Scholar Athletes of the Week for the central Ohio region.

Michelle Ezenekwe is a four-year member of the volleyball and track and field teams for Liberty. She currently is a captain for the Ohio Capital Conference champion volleyball team. When not on the court or track, Ezenekwe carries a 4.064 grade-point average while enrolled in several AP and CCP courses. She also is a member of the National Honor Society, Co-President of the Kneading Club and a Service Club member. In the community, she is involved as a volunteer at Grace Church and Teen Institute, works as a life guard and swim instructor during the summer and maintains a part-time job as a hostess at the Kitchen Social Restaurant in Columbus.

Eric Thompson is a four-year football player for the Patriots, leading the team in tackles while playing linebacker. He has been described as “an outstanding student, citizen and athlete.” When not on the gridiron, he carries a 3.95 GPA and is a three-year scholar athlete. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Co-President of the Varsity Choral Club and Theatre Club member. In the community, he is a volunteer at the Adaptive Sports Connection and Willowbrook Nursing Home and also has worked at Liberty High School’s Youth Football Camps.
