Cleveland Clinic ranks No. 2 as worlds best hospital

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Clinic is the world’s second-best hospital, according to a ranking of the world’s top 250 hospitals compiled by Newsweek. 

The rankings, which were released Wednesday, show the Cleveland Clinic is only behind the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota as the top hospital in the world. 

According to Newsweek, the United States has 33 of the world’s top 250 hospitals. Ohio had three hospitals listed in the top 250 ranking, with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center ranking No. 137 in the world and the Cleveland Clinic’s Fairview Hospital ranking between 151-250. 

Newsweek also rated 414 hospitals throughout the U.S. Seven Ohio hospitals ranked in the top 100 in the U.S.:

  • No. 2: Cleveland Clinic 
  • No. 30: University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center 
  • No. 38: Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital
  • No. 67: Christ Hospital in Cincinnati
  • No. 71: Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
  • No. 86: Cleveland Clinic Akron General
  • No. 99: Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton
