OHIO — The OHSAA Girls Basketball State Championship is in full swing.

The first and second state championship games of the day are done. Purcell Marian grasped its first state title in the Division III Championship after defeating Worthington Christian 62-38. Alter beat Sheridan 54-38 in the Division II Championship game

Two more championship games are left.

At 5:15 p.m., New Knoxville goes up against Waterford in the Division IV Championship Game. New Knoxville played its usual tough defense on its way to a 39-28 win over Cincinnati Country Day in the first Division IV state semifinal. Today will be a chance for the team to win the school’s first ever girls state basketball title. Waterford trailed 28-19 early in the second half of the semifinal yesterday, rallying to beat Buckeye Central 53-39.

Rounding out the finals will be Mason against Reynoldsburg at 8:30 p.m. Mason went on a 14-0 run, opening a 38-20 lead, on the way to a 54-35 victory over Massillon Jackson in the first Division I state semifinal. Reynoldsburg’s pressure and tempo were too much for Anthony Wayne to handle, as the Raiders advanced to the OHSAA Girls Basketball Division I state championship game, winning 67-48.

All games will air on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News app. Follow along here for updates.
