As Russia’s invasion continues, Russian forces push their advance on Ukrainian cities despite significant resistance from the people of Ukraine.

The U.N. human rights office says it has documented 691 civilian deaths in Ukraine so far, including 48 children, but they believe the actual number is considerably higher. Overall death tolls in the conflict are unclear, with both Russia and Ukraine claiming different figures that cannot be independently verified.

President Joe Biden, in coordination with a number of NATO nations and other allies, has implemented a comprehensive package of sanctions on Russia for its invasion, which sent Russian currency plummeting and has begun to isolate the country from the rest of the world’s economy. The president announced Friday he would revoke Russia’s “most favored nation” trade status and block U.S. imports of key Russian products after banning U.S. imports of Russian oil on Tuesday.
