Russian forces continues to bombard Ukrainian cities as the Russia’s invasion stretches into its third week, but progress has stalled due to significant resistance from Ukraine’s military.

The U.N. human rights office says it has documented 780 civilian deaths in Ukraine so far, including 58 children, but they believe the actual number is “much higher.”

Overall death tolls in the conflict are unclear, with both Russia and Ukraine claiming different figures that cannot be independently verified.

In an powerful speech to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an emotional plea to U.S. lawmakers for more aid to defend Ukraine. Shortly after, President Joe Biden responded with an additional $800 million in new security assistance for Ukraine, one day after signing a spending bill into law which provides $13.6 billion in aid.
