OHIO — The 2022 Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball State Tournament got off to an amazing start with Ottawa-Glandorf’s 53-48 win over Columbus Africentric.

Fans received quite the show, as highly touted players on both sides certainly delivered. The Nubians’ Dailyn Swain, one of the top juniors in Ohio, led all scorers with 32 points. Meanwhile, one of Ohio’s best sophomores, Colin White, had 31 for the Titans.

After a slow start in the first half, Africentric trailed 12-8 after the first quarter, but rallied in the second to build a 21-14 lead at the break.

That advantage stretched to 10, with the Nubians up 33-23 with 4:37 to play in the third. But Ottawa-Glandorf opened the fourth with a 12-0 run to take a 43-37 lead it would never relinquish.

The Nubians struggled from the floor, missing several shots from close range, and failing to connect on any of their 11 3-point tries.

But what a show put on by Swain and White. The Africentric star added 13 rebounds, seven steals, three assists and two blocks. Several dunks highlighted his 32-point effort.

White, meanwhile, added 11 rebounds, three assists and five blocks to go with his 31 points.

The Titans advance to play the winner of Cincinnati Taft and Lutheran East in the second Division III semifinal in Sunday’s championship game. Ottawa-Glandorf will look for the school’s fourth state title, previously winning it all in 2013, 2008 and 2004.
