Rocky Laabs and Zane Fulton are putting their climbing skills to the test, as they traverse one of the Cincinnati Zoo’s newest guest experiences.

“I like it because you can go wherever you want,” Laabs said. “So, it’s choose your own adventure.”

Laabs and Fulton are both Managers of Guest Experience at the Cincinnati Zoo. Fulton said this climbing experience is a nice change of pace for guests.

“It’s super exciting,” Fulton said. “There’s so much to offer on the course, so I just really wanna see everyone try it out.”

The Kanga Klimb originally opened last June but is still pretty new to many visitors. There are 58 different challenges to navigate on the course.

But before you can do that, there’s one important step the Cincinnati Zoo is taking before the season gets into full swing.

The Cincinnati Zoo is looking to hire guides to navigate this new attraction and adventure.

“We’re looking for part-time guides for this summer, hopefully starting in May, all the way through October,” Laabs said.

Due to the pandemic causing an overall hiring crunch, amusement parks and zoos have faced challenges to hire seasonal employees. This year, the Zoo is hopeful to get a leg up on those challenges. Laabs promises to provide expert-level training.

“We’ll show them the ropes,” Laabs said.

Fulton is looking forward to what’s to come this year.

“This year I’m excited to get a bunch more people to see the amazing interactions that we can create for people.”

Those interested in applying can do so by visiting the job opportunities section of the Cincinnati Zoo’s website.
