OHIO — The most popular boys’ and girls’ names for newborns start with an O, according to a recent project from Names.org.
According to the 2022 data, Names.org projects Oliver will be the state’s top boys’ name, while Olivia is expected to be the state’s top girls’ name for the year.
Oliver, which ranked No. 2 in 2020, replaces Liam as the state’s most popular boys’ name. It also ranked Olivia No. 1 in 2019 and 2020. 2021 rankings for the state were not available.
Nationally, Liam ranks as the most popular boys’ name, ahead of Noah and Oliver. Olivia remains the most popular girls’ name in the United States, according to Names.org.
The website lists Rick as the state’s most unique boys’ name, while Beth is Ohio’s most unique girls’ name.
Names.org said it uses data from the Social Security Administration to help compile the data.
