COLUMBUS, Ohio — Traveling the world from the safety of the ground—that’s the premise behind Take Flight Ohio Flight Simulation.
“What we came up with is giving you this unique opportunity to see what it is like to fly in a commercial airliner,” said John Price, owner of Take Flight Ohio. “You look in a cockpit and see all these switches and gadgets, and probably wonder what goes on up there and now the average person can sit in that seat that most people don’t get the chance to sit in.”
At Take Flight Ohio, visitors take the captain’s seat in a realistic cockpit, taking control of a full-scale simulator.
“We try to make it as realistic as possible,” said Price. “We’ve got the actual switches, knobs, wrap-around screens—everything that gives you that sensation that you are really flying an airplane.”
From take-off to landing, pilots-for-the-day practice their skills while traveling to a variety of destinations. The unique experience allows guests to live out or even realize their dreams.
“You get older in life and you didn’t get a chance to fly as a younger person and this allows you to live out that dream,” said Price. “We have also had young people in here that never thought about being a pilot and all of a sudden realize I can do this.”
No experience is needed to soar through the sky at Take Flight Ohio, but you must be at least 12 to control the simulation. Those wanting to visit Take Flight Ohio Flight Simulation must book their ticket in advance.
