The United States Department of Agriculture wants parents to keep food safety in mind as students start a new academic year.
Food safety experts recommend keeping lunches at 40°F or lower. This can be done by using two cold sources, said Karen Hunter with the United States Department of Agriculture.
Hunter recommends using a gel pack as one source, with a frozen water bottle or juice box as another.
