CINCINNATI — Greater Cincinnati travelers now have new nonstop service options to San Francisco and Charleston, S.C. as Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) continues to expand flights to areas across the country.

What You Need To Know

  • CVG Airport is adding nonstop service to a pair of business and leisure travel hot spots
  • Flights to San Francisco and Charleston, S.C. begin in February aboard Breeze Airways
  • Breeze offers three different ticket price bundles — ‘Nice’, ‘Nicer’, and ‘Nicest’
  • The airline is offering promotional prices to those destinations through Oct. 24

The flight options are being brought to CVG by Breeze Airways, starting Feb. 8, 2023. Flights to both cities will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Candace McGraw, chief executive officer for CVG, described Charleston and San Francisco as two business and leisure travel “hot spots.”

“We welcome Breeze to the region and are excited for our community to experience their Seriously Nice flights,” she said. “We look forward to working with Breeze and growing their network here at CVG.”

Passengers on Breeze may choose from three price bundles — ‘Nice’, ‘Nicer’, and ‘Nicest.’

The Nice and Nicer bundles are across Breeze’s fleet of Embraer 195 e-jets and Airbus A220s. Nicest seats — which include first-class seating — are only available on the A220s. Guests may also choose a Nice or

Nicer bundle and add a first-class seat as well, according to the airline.

To kickoff the new service, Breeze is offering pricing promotions on one-way tickets. Those introductory fares start as low as $39 for Charleston and $99 for San Francisco.

The lowest prices are for the Nice bundle. Passengers with those tickets can bring a personal item on board, but their ticket doesn’t include carry-on or checked bags. These seats also don’t include in-flight food or beverages, and Nice passengers don’t get priority seating.

Promotional prices go up for Nicer ($79 for Charleston and $179 for San Francisco) and Nicest ($89 and $199, respectively) options. These tickets include things like extra luggage, food and beverages and priority seating, to varying degrees.

Breeze is offering a few promotional tickets. The promotion ends Oct. 24, 2022, and those tickets must have a travel date of May 16, 2023 or earlier, per the airline.

There’s no charge to change or cancel a ticket up to 15 minutes prior to departure.

Flights to both San Francisco and Charleston are now on sale at www.flybreeze.com and on the Breeze app.

Tom Doxey, Breeze Airways’ president, said the plan is to add more flights and destinations if tickets to these destinations sell “as well as we expect.”

“(This) is just the beginning,” he added.

Breeze Airways began service in May 2021 from 16 destinations, primarily in the east and southeast of the United States. On Wednesday, the airline announced it would begin new service between Akron-Canton Airport to Orlando International Airport in March.

It’s the sixth passenger airline to locate to CVG since 2013. Alaska Airlines and Sun Country Airlines began offering local services last year.

The continued growth in flight option comes as CVG continues to rebound from the effects on travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are welcoming more travelers back — seeing about 85% of pre-pandemic passenger volumes year to date,” McGraw said.

CVG currently offers nonstop service to more than 50 destinations.

Over the past few months, the airport has added or resumed travel to several destinations.

In September, Frontier Airlines announced the launch of nonstop seasonal service from CVG to Phoenix. That same month, American restarted its service to Arizona city.

American Airlines will launch daily nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham beginning in January 2023, marking the airline’s 12th destination served from CVG.

Delta resumed nonstop transatlantic service to Paris, France on Aug. 2.

“Our strategy over the last several years has been to further diversify airline options for local travelers,” McGraw said. “This focus is on creating a variety of nonstop options, product offerings and price levels that meet the needs of business, leisure and family vacation travel needs.”
