CLEVELAND — The third-annual Be Elegantly Strong Throughout Cancer Awareness Fashion Show, in partnership with the BEST Community Resource Center, will be held on Saturday at the LaSalle Theater.

What You Need To Know

  • Fashion show hosted for cancer awareness to be held Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • It is the third year of the show, which is done in partnership with the BEST Community Resource Center
  • There are 14 cancer survivors who will be walking in the show

There are 14 cancer survivors walking in the show, including two-year breast cancer survivor Terrina Johnson.

Johnson said how much this show means to her and the other women walking in it.

“This event is gonna uplift us all,” said Johnson.

Another survivor walking in the show is Angela Eddins. She said cancer has taken so much from her and other people, but that this show is helping her gain her confidence back.

“It’s very empowering because cancer it just takes so many things from you. It takes your confidence,” she said.

Tara Douglas is also a cancer survivor and a part of the fashion show. Despite how hard cancer has been for herself and many other people, she said she has always kept a smile on her face throughout her fight.

“I wear a smile because that’s all I have is the fight in me,” said Douglas.

This will be Santina Curry’s second time walking in the show. This year is different for her because she now feels confident enough to talk to people about her cancer and be there for those who have to go through it.

“I want to be there for others like they were for me,” said Curry.

Kimberly Davis, the woman behind the fashion show, said that she started it in support of an aunt that passed away from cancer. Other than raising money, she wants people to know that they aren’t alone in their fight.

“I want them to know there’s people out here who actually care,” said Davis.

The money raised at this event will go towards financial assistance, free wigs and support groups. The show begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening and people can get tickets online.
