CLEVELAND — University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital celebrated Halloween with its traditional Trick-or-Treat Street event.
In a place that is sometimes tricky for kids, staff said Halloween was really a treat. Medical professionals at Rainbow became the superheroes, dressing up for the kids.
“It’s all about the kids, right?” said Dr. Brian Rothstein, a pediatric neurosurgeon. “Really, my job here is to make sure that I create an environment that’s great for children and their families.”

Dressed in his boat costume, Dr. Rothstein said he works hard to keep his patients’ spirits afloat.
“It’s all about showing that we’re here, both in good times and bad times,” he said.
Heather Richards is an administrator at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Outpatient Clinic and said it is one way she can connect with patients.
“It’s very heartwarming and sad, but it’s also really rewarding to be able to give these kids something to smile about today and get them some treats and, you know, make sure that they have a good time,” said Richards.
