CINCINNATI — More than 100 million rides are provided every year by Ohio transit systems, according to data from the state department of transportation. Those services not only get people around cities, but across the country.

Now a bus station people rely on is moving from the city to the suburbs in Southwest Ohio.

What You Need To Know

  • Greyhound Lines recently moved its Downtown Cincinnati location to a temporary location in Arlington Heights
  • The previous location was sold to Chavez Properties
  • Greyhound says their new location allows customers seamless access to additional modes of transportation and nine additional bus schedules
  • Greyhound doesn’t have any plans of moving locations anytime soon

Traveling through Cincinnati on the Greyhound Lines is nothing new to Terry Hart, a former Columbus resident. That’s why she says she was shocked when she arrived for her layover in Arlington Heights, a suburb outside of the city.

But she said what disappointed her the most was how the bus line changed the way you pay for your bus ticket.

“I thought I could just purchase it with my bank debit card,” said Hart. “But that’s the only way they do business with you to get a business ticket. I have to come and go online with my phone, go in there with the confirmation number.”

For decades, the Greyhound station was here in Cincinnati’s Downtown- a location that some say was very convenient. That’s because you could wait inside and purchase food and drinks from a vending machine.

But vending machines aren’t an option yet at the new location. It’s something that they’re working on right now. Travelers have also complained about having to wait outside because there wasn’t enough room in the trailer.

“Traveling Greyhound was the best,” she said. “I mean, it was the best. It was the best of all of them because they would always work with you. They could either take you to the state, to those cities, or they would say you can take Amtrak.”

We reached out to Greyhound Lines for a statement. They shared with Spectrum News that they officially moved to the new location on Nov. 2, partnering with Barons Bus Lines

In a statement they said, “Greyhound’s new location allows customers seamless access to additional modes of transportation and nine additional bus schedules to choose from.”

They don’t have any plans of moving anytime soon.

As for Hart, she said this experience has put a bad taste in her mouth.

“It’s almost been like a living nightmare,” she said. “Not like you know, like this… You just don’t want to travel through bus anymore.”
