AKRON, Ohio — Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens staff are in full force preparing for their annual holiday lighting display.

The annual holiday display brings thousands to one of the largest historic estates in Ohio. Folks at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens are getting ready to hang the holly and spread a little cheer.

Staff may not be dashing through the snow just yet, but they are stringing up the lights. More than one million lights will be strung around one of Ohio’s oldest national historic landmarks.

At Stan Hywet, everyone is an elf preparing for Santa to arrive.

“Right now, we are decorating the historic grape arbor,” Educator Mike Kosmos said.

He is a teacher by day but one of the big guy’s helpers at night.  

Holiday joy is being spread all throughout the estate, from the manor home to gingerbread land.

“Typically, this usually this process usually takes about a couple of months to work on,” Kosmos said.

Deck the Hall runs from Nov. 25 to 27 and throughout December, including Dec. 1 through Dec. 4, Dec. 8 to Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 to Dec. 30.

This year they have extended hours. Guests can arrive anytime between 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Due to this extension regular daytime guided and self-guided tours will end for the season on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
