CLEVELAND — Glenville’s football team made history, becoming the first Cleveland Metropolitan School to bring home an OHSAA title when they defeated Wyoming 26-6 for the D-IV title.

It was the team’s third time at states, and it was an emotional night for longtime Glenville head coach Ted Ginn Sr., who finally captured a state title during his legendary career on the east side of Cleveland. This is the first time in the 51-year history a state title has come back to Cleveland.

To celebrate, the city is hosting a rally for the team to celebrate its 15-0 season. A motorcade parade is heading from Glenville High School to Cleveland Public Hall for the celebration which begins Thusday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m.

The team will follow St. Clair Avenue, to Ontario Street, to Lakeside Avenue.

Among those celebrating will be Coach Ginn, Mayor Justin Bibb, CMSD CEO Eric Gordon, city council members and other community, city and school district leaders.
