DUBLIN, Ohio — Some parents got a break from shopping Saturday; It was their kids’ turn instead.

A pop-up shop in Dublin allows kids to buy holiday gifts for their family. After parents drop their children off, they go on a little shopping excursion on their own.
“I think we have just a tiny bit more shopping to do,” said Emersyn Huffman.
Emersyn is only 7, and apparently old enough to know she’s behind on Christmas shopping and can do it by herself.
She went shopping at the “Kids Holiday Gift Shop” at Pop-Up Dublin, where kids can select gifts without any parents around.
And if you ask Emersyn, she’s practically an adult now.
“I get to be with no parent, and it feels really grown up,” said Emersyn.
As trained volunteers show her around the shop, they assist in checking out, and of course, gift wrapping, while teaching about the true meaning of Christmas.
“I think that it’s very important to teach kids that it’s a season of giving,” said Misty Huffman, Emersyn’s mom. “(It’s) not just about getting, but think of others and what they might like or what they might need. This allows them to do that.”
As the Christmas shopping season winds down, little Emersyn has one piece of advice for us.
“Make sure it’s a good (gift) and something your parents would like,” said Emersyn.
The “Kids Holiday Gift Shop” closes Saturday night.
