CINCINNATI — Fans who had tickets to Monday night’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game are eligible for a full refund.

What You Need To Know

  • The Bengals are offering refunds to anyone who had tickets to the Monday night game versus Buffalo
  • Most fans are eligible for an automatic refund
  • Anyone who purchased tickets on the resale market, other than through Ticketmaster, needs to reach out to that platform for a refund, per the Bengals

The announcement from the Bengals happened Friday morning, a few hours after the NFL officially canceled the game.

The highly anticipated matchup between the AFC powerhouses at Paycor Stadium got suspended midway through the first quarter after Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and suffered cardiac arrest.

In its reasoning for not resuming the game, the league cited conversations with the two teams and the NFL Players Association as well as not wanting to move back the start of the playoffs. The playoffs begin next week.

The Bengals outlined the various scenarios for how ticket holders can go about receiving a refund on the team website. It also emailed anyone who had tickets, according to the Bengals’ ticket office.

Most fans will receive an automatic refund for the cost of tickets and other related fees and parking, if applicable, the Bengals said. But anyone who purchased a ticket or tickets on the secondary or resale market may need to contact that service provider.

The Bengals noted refunds could take up to 30 days.

Below are specific details on how the refund process works.

Season ticket holders

Fans with season tickets will receive an automatic credit to their account for the cost of admission and parking, according to the Bengals. The team said the amount credited to the account automatically goes to the ticket holder’s next Bengals invoice, meaning they can use it for potential home playoff games this season or 2023 season ticket renewals.

The process is the same for season ticket members who resold their tickets through Ticketmaster, the Bengals said. But in this situation, Ticketmaster will also reverse the resale transaction for those tickets. The team said that the process may take several business days.

In both situations, there is no action required by the season ticket holder.

Anyone who’d prefer a refund, instead of a credit, must do so online.

Single-game tickets

The Bengals ticket office said anyone who purchased single-game tickets will receive an automatic refund to the payment method used to make the purchase. The refund includes the cost of the ticket, any related fees and official Bengals parking, if applicable, according to the team.

There are special instructions for fans who bought tickets and resold them through Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster will reverse the resale transaction of your tickets prior to processing the refund, according to the Bengals’ website. After processing the resale reversal, the original purchaser will get a full refund, including the cost of tickets, any related fees and parking, if applicable. The refund will go to the method used to buy the tickets.

This process may take several days, the Bengals said, but it requires no action by the user.

Anyone who purchased tickets through a secondary market other than Ticketmaster needs to contact that platform’s customer support for information about getting a refund, the Bengals said.
