Overnight, parts of central and southern Ohio saw a 6-hour window of snowfall, with some snowfall rates of 1/2 inch to 1 inch per hour.

What You Need To Know

  • Roads are wet and slushy
  • Northwest Ohio remains all snow
  • Snow totals have increased slightly for northwest Ohio with 5-9 inches possible by tonight
  • Lake-effect snow tonight may bring in an additional 2-5 inches of snow to the snowbelt

Dayton and Cincinnati have been removed from the Winter Storm Warning with a change to rain.

However, winter weather alerts remain in place across a good share of the state today because of the mixture of snow and sleet before a changeover to rain for most.

Regardless of precipitation type, expect slower travel conditions. Of course, roads will be worst where the snow is heaviest.

Most areas this morning picked up 1-3 inches of snow before daybreak.

There were some pockets higher with around 5 inches in Montgomery county.

If you have changed to rain, it’s likely this will stay rain through the afternoon, with more light snow tonight and throughout the daytime on Thursday.

Snowfall will continue in northwest and north-central Ohio.

Lake-effect snow will set up tonight and bring an additional 2-5 inches of snowfall to the snowbelt, so the Thursday morning commute will be slow.

Another thing to watch today, winds will be near advisory levels up to 45 mph.

We all switch back to snow showers as temperatures fall again Wednesday evening, with scattered snow showers lasting into Thursday.

We will be in and out of snow showers through Friday night.

Looking ahead to Sunday, a similar storm system is possible with widespread rain and snow.
