CLEVELAND — Prepare for an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back. Hadestown is now open at the Connor Palace Playhouse Square.

Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Hadestown intertwines the mythic tales of Orpheus and Eurydice and King Hades and his wife Persephone. Cleveland native Hannah Whitley stars as Eurydice in the traveling cast.

“The story has a beautiful message of love, loss, hope and redemption,” said Whitley. “I feel like it is just one of those stories that everyone can walk away from feeling incredibly human and incredibly seen.”

A graduate of Twinsburg High School, Whitley grew up seeing performances at Playhouse Square. She describes performing at Connor Palace as a ‘pinch me moment.’

“It is so cool that I can’t even wrap my head around it,” said Whitley. “It feels so familiar and yet not familiar because I have never been on this side of the playhouse, it is a moment I will savor for the rest of my life.”

Hadestown continues its run at Connor Palace Theatre through Feb. 19.
