Crill and Schumacher are star-crossed lovers. Crill, a Michigan fan, and Schumacher, an OSU fan, attended the game together.

“We’re somewhat of a split household here with Michigan versus Ohio State,” he said, before the Buckeyes went on to a 4-2 victory.

The pair managed to fall in love despite the intense rivalry between OSU and Michigan. Crill said that they’re both just happy to be at the game.

“I’m a Michigander and I moved to Columbus to be with her, but I have to represent the Michigan team, so I’m excited to be here. We went to the game on Thursday, it was a tough loss, but we’re excited to be at the Faceoff on the Lake,” he said.

The Cleveland Browns said that the ice rink took 12,960 minutes to install. Schumacher said they are excited to be at the first major college hockey game at FirstEnergy Stadium.

“We’ve never been to FirstEnergy, so we’re excited to both be here today and in Cleveland,” she said.

The couple didn’t make any bets between them, but were excited for bragging rights. Schumacher said they won’t be fighting about the outcome.

“It’ll be cordial,” she said.

Over 50,000 tickets were distributed for the game.
