COLUMBUS, Ohio — With showbiz can come fame and fortune, but one performer in Ohio has come up with a whole new reason to put on his dance shoes.

What You Need To Know

  • Tony Ingham has been dancing nearly all his life
  • Ingham founded the Columbus Entertainment Productions 4 Charity several years ago
  • The next show is on May 12 and 13. Proceeds will give back to hurricane victims in Florida through the Red Cross

Tony Ingham is a choreographer, but after performing all his life, he’s in it for more than the money or glamour.

“I just want to, you know, do a show where I give back. This is what I want to do,” said Ingham.

Ingham found a way to perform and raise money for different causes, which eventually became the theatre group ‘’Columbus Entertainment Productions 4 Charity,” giving him the ‘best of both worlds’.

“I love performing, and I love giving back to charities,” said Ingham.

Dancing has been his life.

“I’ve been dancing since I was 7,” said Ingham.

Everything he knows about singing and dancing came from his mother, Ida Ingham. She used to sing in a band, so you can say it’s practically in his blood.

“Growing up my mom wanted me to be a figure skater,” said Ingham. “Then, I got injured. Then my mom was like, ‘Let’s go into dance’, and I was like ‘I’m a guy,’ but I enjoyed and just liked performing ever since.”

That grew into his love for theatre and now giving back. Ingham said none of the performers get paid. It’s done all out of the goodness of their hearts.

“Every season we have something we give back to charity,” said Ingham. “As long as I say ‘we pay our bills and we give something to somebody in charity,’ that’s my main thing.”

The Columbus Entertainment Productions 4 Charity’s next show is May 12 and 13 at the Battelle Arts Center at Otterbein.

Proceeds will go towards the hurricane victims in Florida through the Red Cross.
