Gov. Mike DeWine tests positive for COVID-19

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine’s office issued a statement Tuesday evening stating the governor had tested positive for COVID-19.

DeWine tested positive around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday after working throughout the day.

“He started experiencing mild cold symptoms yesterday,” the statement read. “Believing he had a mild head cold, he proceeded with his work day today.”

DeWine’s symptoms worsened Tuesday and his doctor advised he take a COVID-19 test. he had a 101-degree fever at the time of the test and returned home.

“Gov. DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health advise testing yourself for COVID-19, even if you think you have only a minor cold,” the notice concluded.

Just last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved updated COVID vaccinations for those 6 months old and up.
