After becoming the first named tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season on June 2, Arlene is now a tropical depression. It won’t last much longer, either.

What You Need To Know

  • Arlene formed in the Gulf of Mexico on June 2
  • It will move south toward Cuba as it weakens
  • Parts of southern Florida will get locally heavy rainfall

Arlene is a tropical depression with top sustained winds winds of 35 mph. No tropical watches or warnings are in effect for Florida or Cuba.

Unfavorable conditions continue for Arlene as wind shear tears it apart, so this system will be short-lived. It will become a post-tropical low pressure system later today, fully dissipating by the end of the weekend.
