Authorities search for missing Summit County inmate

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped Tuesday morning.

  • Jason Conrad is described as a white male, 150 pounds, 5-foot-9, with brown hair and blue eyes
  • He could be wearing an orange shirt and pants or blue shorts
  • Anyone with information should call the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at (330) 643-2181

The sheriff’s office said at 8 a.m., a deputy transported inmate Jason Conrad to Summa Health on 1 Park West Dr. in Akron. He had been handcuffed and was in a boot from a previous injury, according to the sheriff’s office.

Once the deputy removed the inmate from the transport vehicle, the inmate was able to escape by running away after removing the boot. 

The search for Conrad continues as of 12:48 p.m. The sheriff’s office said there are still deputies in the area keeping an eye out for him. Earlier today, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and officers from Akron, Fairlawn and Copley assisted in the search.

He’s described as a white male, 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He could be wearing an orange shirt and pants or blue shorts. He has charges of willfully fleeing, possession of drugs, trafficking drugs and a parole violation.
