COLUMBUS — Just in time for Halloween, a beautifully tragic story is brought to the stage.

BalletMet will perform Dracula at the Davidson Theatre from Oct. 28- Nov. 5. The production, inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, was first adapted for the stage in 1999 by the Artistic Director David Nixon.

“What I love about this show is that it is for a huge audience base,” said Nixon. “If you’re a ballet fan there is sufficient ballet, but it is also a very strong theatre piece.”

Nixon returns this October to bring Dracula to the state for the first time in six years, with updated choreography and a new cast of dancers. From the dramatic smoke-filled entrance of Dracula in the first scene to the dark set design to the intense drama and sensual romance, BalletMet promises an ‘exciting’ show for audiences.

“The production has really taken on new life from the last time some of you saw it,” said David Ward, who dances the part of Dracula. “If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out.”

Dracula opens Friday, Oct. 28, with a number of showtimes to follow. Tickets can be purchased through BalletMet or in person at the CAPA Ticket Center.
