CINCINNATI — Defensive end Trey Hendrickson’s huge game on Sunday helped seal the Cincinnati Bengals’ first win of the season, a 27-12 victory over the New York Jets.

His heroics also earned Hendrickson recognition as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his six-year career.

Hendrickson had 2 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles in the win. He also made four tackles as the Bengals held the Jets without a touchdown.

The award is the first for a Cincinnati defender since 2019, when Carlos Dunlap earned it in the final game of the regular season.

Hendrickson, a third-round draft pick in 2017, spent his first four seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2021, his first season with the Bengals.

The Bengals (1-2) host the Miami Dolphins (3-0) on Thursday night.
