COLUMBUS, Ohio — Another member of Ohio’s congressional delegation will call it quits at the end of the year.

Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-7th, announced his plans to retire.

Gibbs, 67, has been serving in Congress since 2011. In his announcement Wednesday morning, Gibbs criticized the Ohio Supreme Court for how it has handled the maps approved by the Ohio Redistricting Commission.

“It is irresponsible to effectively confirm the congressional map for this election cycle seven days before voting begins, especially in the Seventh Congressional District where almost 90% of the electorate is new and nearly two-thirds is an area primarily from another district,” Gibbs wrote in a statement.

The new districts would have had Gibbs square off with Max Miller, a candidate who has already received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.

Trump released a statement Wednesday morning complimenting Gibbs for his career in Washington.

“I want to congratulate Congressman Bob Gibbs of Ohio on a wonderful and accomplished career,” Trump said. “His retirement, after serving in Congress for more than a decade, should be celebrated by all. He was a strong ally to me and MAGA, voting to support my America First agenda and fighting strongly against the Radical Left. Thank you for your service, Bob—a job well done!”
