CLEVELAND — Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has been released from the hospital and is cleared to travel back to Cleveland after the Browns’ rookie linebacker was hospitalized Sunday.
The Browns said that Owusu-Koramoah suffered a throat contusion during Sunday’s 47-42 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
It is unclear when during Sunday’s game Owusu-Koramoah suffered the injury. Owusu-Koramoah was on the field during the Chargers’ game-winning drive that culminated in a go-ahead touchdown with 1:32 left on the clock.
Owusu-Koramoah had four combined tackles in Sunday’s game and added a forced fumble.
Owusu-Koramoah was not the only Browns defensive player injured on Sunday.
Starting cornerback Denzel Ward left early in Sunday’s game with a neck injury. Ward was limited at practice on Thursday and did not practice on Wednesday. He started Sunday’s game but did not finish. Ward is scheduled to get an MRI performed on Monday.
Defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney was inactive for Sunday’s game. He missed practice last week due to an elbow injury.
After the Browns’ defense was sterling against the Vikings, it struggled to the Chargers allowing 493 yards. The Chargers’ passing game put up 383 yards against the Browns’ defense on Sunday.
