CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has announced it’s the first pediatric site to receive the Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence designation by the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).

What You Need To Know

  • Up until this year, only adult institutions could receive the designation
  • SNMMI changed those requirements to apply to pediatrics as well
  • The designation showcases the experiences and training everyone had to do to qualify for their current posiitons

The designation means the facility meets strict mandatory experiences and training for those working there to qualify for these positions.

“I am immensely proud of our experts and what they have built in service to our patients,” said Dr. Brian Coley, radiologist-in-chief at Cincinnati Children’s.

Up until this year, SNMMI’s Center of Excellence only allowed adult institution because of therapy requirements that were not available for pediatric hospitals. As Cincinnati Children’s Hospital progressed, the SNMMI created new pediatric requirements to be successful.

“This designation from the SNMMI recognizes the work of an entire team here at Cincinnati Children’s that is committed to bringing new and needed therapies to our patients while maintaining the highest quality and safety of care,” said Dr. Andrew Trout director of Nuclear Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s.
