CINCINNATI — With the Super Bowl quickly approaching, the Cincinnati Police Department is gearing up for what may be one of the biggest watch party gatherings in years.

The Banks in downtown Cincinnati is expected to be packed on game day. Road closures and a larger police presence are just some things you can expect that day. According to the Cincinnati Police Department, seven streets downtown will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Those seven streets include parts of Elm Street, Freedom Way, Race Street, Rosa Parks Street, Marian Spencer Way, Ted Berry Way and Joe Nuxhall Way. Two more are expected to close after the game — parts of Race Street and Walnut Street. However, parking garages will be open.

With snow still at the Banks, crews are already out salting the streets. If you plan to drink at the banks, they urge you to only drink out of the DORA cups. Outside drinks are not permitted. CPD will be out patrolling the streets all across the city to ensure everyone is safe.

“We are strategically deploying lots of police resources all over the city in different sectors of the city,” said Doug Wiesman, Cincinnati Police Department Captain. “Of course, we are going to be concentrating on the epicenter down here at the Banks.”

CPD also suggests that you arrive early to ensure parking, and to make sure you have a plan A, B, C, and D for leaving to ensure you make it home safely.
