CINCINNATI — Bonded by their love of music, a group of performers are entertaining audiences with chart topping hits, perhaps like they’ve never heard before.

Cincinnati’s String Source is currently playing Candlelight Concerts.

What You Need To Know

  • Cincinnati’s String Source is currently playing Candlelight Concerts.
  • Members have a degree from The University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music.
  • The concerts are held at the Rhinegeist and The Transept

The members of the string quartet have two things in common: a love for classical instruments, and a degree from The University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music. Together String Source plays weddings and corporate events, but on weeknights they play candlelight concerts.

“You get to play with your friends, so it is a lot of fun,” said Kanako Shimasaki, violinist and owner of String Source.

Candlelight Concerts provide a great opportunity to enjoy live music in an intimate setting. The concerts are held at two different area venues, Rhinegeist and The Transept. Upcoming shows include tributes to Taylor Swift, Adele, Coldplay and Beyonce. Halloween and Christmas shows are also on the upcoming schedule.

“It has been really nice because I grew up just playing for a classical music audience,” said cellist Phillip Goist. “The people that come to these concerts have not been to classical music concerts before, so we’re kind of reaching a different audience.”
