CLEVELAND — The recent heat wave hitting Ohio may make it difficult to plan activities for kids this summer, but the Cleveland Public Library offers itself as a place to go to escape the hot temperatures and participate in a variety of fun and educational programs.
The library branches are air-conditioned and open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
South Branch Manager Jaime DeClet encouraged families to seek the library as a place to keep cool and take advantage of the many services available, including technology and learning spaces.
The library sponsors many events that are open to the public.
The South Branch hosted a tie dye activity that was originally supposed to be outside, but was moved inside because of the hot temperatures.
“They’ll still be able to do what they originally were supposed to be doing outside,” said DeClet.
Besides arts, crafts and video games, there are reading and enrichment programs offered at branches throughout the summer.
DeClet said the goal is to help kids have fun and stay safe.
“We’re also very proactive to what we do when we have a lot of children in the building to try to keep them busy,” he said.
