COLUMBUS, Ohio — While Columbus native Terrance Davis enjoyed a successful run with his podcast titled “TheGawdCast” he knows nothing beats performing with his improv groups Affirmative Distraction and Face Club in front of a live audience.

He calls the return to the stage, “Improvageddon,” the biggest event of the year by far.

“There’s been a lot of buzz in the Improv community, everyone’s excited to be out here. It was very important to keep an eye on the numbers and to keep an eye on the guidance from the state and the city and to make sure we’re playing inside the lines to be safe,” said Davis.

From the DJ to the heavy hitters, Improvageddon features 40 of the best improv artists from in and around Central Ohio, shuffled up and assigned to random teams.

It’s the first group performance in more than a year and a half.

It was a much-needed return for Columbus native Jeremy Pelzer, who has been in the improv scene and watched it grow for nearly a decade.

“It’s just shocking how much this scene has grown in the past few years alone. Columbus has one of the best grassroots improv communities in the entire country. It’s such a release valve and it’s something we get a lot of value out of,” said Pelzer.

And as the lights hit the stage at 8 p.m. in front of a sold-out crowd outdoors at Via Vecchia Winery in Columbus, Davis is finally back in his element, doing what he loves.

“I really want the city to see how important Improv is and how beautiful of an art form it is. It’s a real exciting night,” said Davis.
