  • The organization held its annual Columbus job fair on Wednesday
  • More than 60 employers, including Spectrum, were in attendance

In celebration of Military Family Month, they held their annual job fair in Columbus on Wednesday.

“It kind of puts you in a stressed situation to find a job pretty quickly, so that’s why we always talk to these guys and gals early on the process so they can start doing the mental process of finding what their passion looks like,” said Allen Von Plinsky, the Event Director for RecruitMilitary.

Danielle Reese was one of the many veterans in attendance.

She’s six months away from retiring from the Army National Guard and while she’s looking to translate her skills into the corporate world, she also came to learn new ones.

“The longer you’re in the military, the more institutionalized you can get and we lose touch with what’s going on in the wider world,” said Reese. “So coming here and speaking with employers and recruiters, meeting other job seekers, helps us get in touch with how the world operates outside of the military.”

More than 100 veterans leave the job fair with offers, according to RecruitMilitary.

There were more than 60 companies in attendance, including Spectrum.

Reese said she hopes to find a job that will allow her to give back and help others.

“I want the effect of what I do to be helping somebody,” said Reese. “Helping someone live better, helping them be better, helping them do better, especially helping them realize their potential.”

RecruitMilitary hosts job fairs all over the country and have placed over 400,000 veterans in new jobs.
