COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Wilds at the Columbus Zoo opens Sunday for the 2022 season, and it will feature several newborns.

The safari park and conservation center opens at 10 a.m., which is on nearly 10,000 acres of reclaimed surface mining land.

This year, The Wilds has some new additions: four takin kids, eight Père David’s deer fawns, a greater one-horned rhino calf, two southern white rhino calves, and a Masai giraffe calf, according to zoo officials.

Guests can select a variety of tours, and prices depend on which tour you select. Tours include soaring over the animal pastures on a Zipline Safari Tour, A Fishing Safari on one of nearly 100 lakes, a Horseback Safari through the quiet prairies and journeys across the park at sunset.

The Wilds is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May through October.

The Wilds is one of the largest conservation centers in North America. It’s home to rare and endangered animals from around the world, as well as hundreds of indigenous species. The goal of the park and center is “to lead and inspire by connecting people and wildlife,” according to the zoo.
