Law enforcement shut down the road for traffic as people in the parade gathered by floats, which took off near Highlands High School and Highland United Methodist Church and made its way down the street.

“I think it’s been a good mix of floats and everyone’s having a good time,” Eric Smith said while watching the parade. He and Hannah Seiter said they were watching Fort Thomas’ parade for the first time.

“Great turnout! Lots of spectators,” Seiter said.

People in the parade dressed up and gave out candy. Different organizations, city leaders and more participated in the parade.

“Yeah, we’ve seen a good variety… dancers, politicians,” Seiter said

“My favorite was the Glier’s Gotta, and they tossed a whole log and my uncle caught it,” Smith said.

All of this entertainment to help get community members more in the holiday spirit.

“I hope everyone has a safe and happy fourth and thank you to all the veterans abroad and domestic that are allowing us to do this,” said Andrew Yunker.

“God bless America,” Smith said.
