CLEVELAND — Now that spring is here, a Cleveland City Council member is helping neighborhoods in her ward get started on “Spring Clean.”

“I don’t want anybody to think that when we see trash and litter in the spring that is a demonstration of Cleveland giving up that is in fact not what it is,” said Councilwoman Rebecca Maurer, who represents the city’s 12th ward.

Maurer just released her own initiative called, “Spring Clean,” where neighbors can email (rmaurer@clevelandcitycouncil.org) her photos of concerning litter or illegal dumping.

She and a team of volunteers will come out and help the best they can. Maurer said her community deserves to feel proud about the place they call home.

“It’s so frustrating for neighbors who really deserve the dignity of having just a clean neighborhood that they can walk through,” Maurer explained. “So, I always want to make sure, as a representative of the council, if there are areas of the ward that are particularly bad, we know about them. That way, we can help rally some volunteers to help clean things up.”

No matter where you live, Maurer suggests you reach out to your city council members to get help with spring cleaning in your neighborhood.
