Americans are heading to the polls Tuesday to determine the balance of power in Congress for the remainder of President Joe Biden’s first term in office, and to make their picks for key statewide offices and ballot initiatives on issues ranging from abortion to legalized cannabis.
According to the U.S. Elections Project, at least 44 million people have already cast their ballots, signaling the possibility of record-setting turnout for a midterm election.
