ERLANGER, Ky. — Mayor Jessica Fette is dipping into a new project and new role — opening up The Hive in Erlanger.
This restaurant and space will be where she and her family can cook. Fette said her family originally was from New Jersey, and her parents moved to the area when she was younger. Her parents operated their own restaurant for a bit of time, and now it’s her turn.
“The food is important, and is going to be top-notch, but it’s what happens here. That’s kind of like “the hive”- that’s where the name comes from and it’s where things get done. Where people come together and make things happen,” Fette said.
Fette is married and a mother. She’s also Erlanger’s first female mayor.
“It’s amazing when you talk to a little seven-year-old, and they’re like you’re the mayor? And it’s a little girl and I hope that they can see that you can do anything- it doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl. It doesn’t matter,” she said.
It’s a mentality, she said her parents taught her growing up. She hopes her kids, as well as others in the community, live by. She said her many roles are possible with the help of those around her.
“When you have great people, you can start taking on more ideas and more tasks because you pull in those special people who are going to be an awesome support.”
She’s also collaborating with other local businesses to help sell their stuff in The Hive.
She said the goal is to open this space up for people to enjoy drinks and all kinds of food in March.
