GRANVILLE, Ohio — The Granville Blue Aces High School Football Team continues to add to the history books.

What You Need To Know

  • The Blue Aces will play in the Division III Regional playoffs Friday night
  • The team is undefeated this season
  • Senior quarterback Carson Crouch tore his ACL in the first playoff round

“The most we ever won was one playoff game,” said Head Coach Wesley Schroeder.

This is Schroeder’s second season as head coach. The team finished their regular season 12-0 and are heading into the OHSAA Division III Regional Final game Friday.

“It’s special, it really is. I would be lying if I said it wasn’t,” said Schroeder.

There’s only two things that could make the season better: winning a championship and avoiding injury.

“I saw him go down, and he doesn’t go down. It’s just not in his nature,” said Schroeder. “He’ll come off, he’ll limp off — he’ll something. When he went down, I instantly went out there because I had a bad feeling.”

He’s talking about senior quarterback Carson Crouch, who tore his ACL in the first round of the playoffs.

“I didn’t really know until a few days after,” said Crouch.

Three weeks later, he said he’s trying to stay positive, making the most of the situation. He even threw a touchdown pass in the regional semifinals against London.

“I’ve been rehabbing, making sure I get the other muscles stronger around it so I can go out there and perform to the best of my ability,” said Crouch.

It’s yet to be determined if he’ll make an appearance against the Western Brown Broncos Friday, but regardless, he’s rallying around his team.

“We have to stop their offense,” said Crouch. “Which I think we’re very capable of doing that.”

Granville takes on Western Brown High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
