SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Jason and Brittany Fisher started Blue Horseshoe Farm in Springfield in 2016. It’s home to more than a dozen horses and a mission to give back to their community.

The farm’s nonprofit wing, Hoofbeats and Heartbeats, is dedicated to providing therapeutic riding.. and teaching proper horse care and management to individuals with emotional and physical disabilities.

“This part of my life is the best part of my life because we’re making a difference,” said Jason Fisher.

Fisher is a veteran. He spent two decades in the Air Force and then continued his work as a military contractor.

“I was a B-52 Navigator for 20 years and then at the tail end of my career, I worked out here at Wright-Patterson [Air Force Base] and ended up helping deploy surveillance systems overseas,” he said.

Because of that experience, his favorite trail rides are with fellow veterans. The farm has established partnerships with the Wounded Warrior Project and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

“I knew equine therapy did wonders for me and I thought it could do the same thing for other people, so that’s why we started it and what we’re trying to do.”
