CLEVELAND — Football season is finally here, and Hannah Mcfeeters and her friends wouldn’t have missed the Browns’ first game for the world.

What You Need To Know

  • The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cleveland Browns in their first game of the season
  • The Chiefs won 33-29
  • Fans flooded bars and restaurants in Cleveland to cheer on the Brownies

“I’m here with my friend Maggie, a fellow Clevelander,” said McFeeters, a Cleveland Browns fan, at the game. “And Ellen who has turned into a Browns fan because she’s friends with me. So I’m converting them.”

The friends attend Walsh University and drove an hour to Nano Brew in Cleveland to watch the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Bleed orange and brown. I was a Browns fan when it hurt, I’m a Browns fan when it doesn’t hurt. Go Browns!” said McFeeters.

With the ultimate Browns fan, Ted, by their side, they watched the Browns lead most of the game.

“He is by far the biggest Browns fan here and not by size. There might be a bigger German Shepherd over there, but he’s got heart and that’s what matters,” said McFeeters.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Browns last year in the playoffs, so fans wanted payback. Most of the game looked promising for the Browns, but ultimately ended in disappointment. Still McFeeters and her friends remain optimistic.

“We didn’t get redemption. Instead, we got deja vu,” said McFeeters. “But you know, we’ll get the redemption when it counts. It’s game one. There’s 17 games this season. And I’m looking forward to the next 16.”

After all they’re Browns fans, the most loyal in the land.

“They came out and played football, confident football, and they’re just gonna keep doing that, they’re gonna keep getting better,” said McFeeters. “Us Clevelanders, it’s all about hustle, all about heart. Like the Cavs were down 3-1 — we’re down 0-1. We’ve been in this situation before. Not very often are we ever 1-0, we know what to do from here. And we’ll get the job done.”

The Browns play the Houston Texans Sunday, Sept. 19 in Cleveland. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
