FirstEnergy, headquartered in northeast Ohio, said its crews are on standby and ready for a winter storm that’s predicted to hit Ohio tonight.

Company spokesperson, Lauren Siburkis, provided an update to Spectrum News on Thursday morning.

“We have a team of in-house meteorologists who have been monitoring this incoming winter weather for several days, which has allowed us to prepare as best as we can for the incoming weather,” said Siburkis. “At the first hint of severe weather, we activate the storm response plan that allows us to increase our staffing levels, especially for the holiday weekend, but also secure additional resources, such as contractor crews, in the event we need to deploy them to any hard-hit areas because of the storm.”

Siburkis encouraged anyone affected by a power outage to immediately contact FirstEnergy: 1-888-544-4877 (1-888-LIGHTSS) or go to https://www.firstenergycorp.com/outages.
