High School Blitz: Highlights, analysis from quarterfinals of OHSAA playoffs

OHIO — The Ohio High School Athletic Association football tournament continued Friday night across the state. The playoffs will culminate with the state finals on Dec. 1-3 in Canton, Ohio.

In Friday’s OHSAA Game of the Week for central Ohio viewers, fourth-seeded Pickerington Central held off fifth-seeded Pickerington North 28-20 in Region 3 in Division I. 

The Tigers advance to a semifinal matchup with top-seeded Gahanna Lincoln. Pickerington Central lost to Gahanna Lincoln 22-20 on Sept. 16. 

In the southwest Ohio Game of the Week, Moeller High School upended St. Xavier 28-7, with junior running back Jordan Marshall scoring four rushing touchdowns to lead the way.

Moeller (11-1) moves on to a semifinal matchup against Mason next Friday.

In the northeast Ohio Game of the Week, Mentor topped Canton McKinley 19-14 thanks to a touchdown pass from Scotty Fox to Nicholas Jares with 12 seconds left on the clock. 

Mentor next faces Medina in the semifinal, a rematch of a game Mentor won 52-38 in September.
